The Hates (Houston, TX)
http://www.thehates.com/

The Hates has been called "Houston's first and last punk band", and with over thirty years of blood, sweat, and that familiar mohawk, those words may be more true than their author ever knew. From his very first live show in 1978, Christian Arnheiter (now Kidd) has steered this legendary band through decades of disco, pop, new wave, hair bands, hip-hop, crossover country, and now the newest fad of tribute bands to keep punk rock alive.

In a time when many early eighties groups are getting back together to play reunion shows, the Hates have the distinction of being the oldest continuously performing unsigned punk band. And despite the love/hate relationship the local music scene has had with punk rock over the years, the Bayou City will always be their home.

Mydolls (Houston, TX)
https://www.facebook.com/MydollsHoustonTexas

Mydolls (1978-present), Houston’s original femme punk band, was formed in 1978 by guitarist and vocalist Trish Herrera, bassist Dianna Ray, guitarist and vocalist Linda Younger and drummer George Reyes. As one of the earliest art punk bands in Houston, Mydolls created a DIY sound that was as ethereal, fluid and poetic as it was politically charged and feminist. Throughout their nearly 40-year history, these pioneering musicians have paved a path for women and minorities in the music and arts scenes, and they continue to perform today with their original lineup. During the 1980s, Mydolls were interviewed by John Peel on BBC Radio and performed in Win Wenders’ Cannes award-winning film Paris, Texas. Mydolls and the Houston punk scene were the focus of a 2016 music-based lecture series at Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, and the band most recently performed as part of the SPEAKEASY experimental music and art program series at Lawndale Art Center in Houston. Their latest EP, It’s Too Hot for Revolution, was released as a collectible red vinyl edition in February 2017.

Anarichitex (Houston, TX)
https://www.facebook.com/anarchitex/

Although the Anarchitex have roamed the post-punk musical landscape of Houston for nearly three decades, the band's cantankerous barrage of noise remains far under the radar. ... crown them alongside other local veterans like The Hates and Mydolls as both survivors and sonic entrepreneurs, albeit with a more caustic underbelly than both.v - David Emsinger, Houston Press

Screech of Death (Houston, TX)
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Screech-of-Death/277191009099085

“..the righteously named Screech of Death, a relatively new “midtempo old-school punk” combination of two Texas punk warriors and one L.A. import. The Californian is Lisafer, Screech of Death’s lead singer and bassist, whose impressive rap sheet includes hitches with storied goth-punks 45 Grave, D.I., Nina Hagen and most recently Snapper, which also featured Rikk Agnew of the Adolescents.

Joining her is drummer Arthur Hayes, an original member of notorious cornholers the Hickoids as well as The Next and Mystery Date, and a longtime San Antonio scenester who used to book bands at legendary Alamo City dive Tacoland. Although it’s his first band playing guitar, J.R. Delgado’s local punk credentials span notable names like Doomsday Massacre, the Party Owls, Anarchitex and Sugar Shack; he also owned and operated landmark punk/alternative club the Axiom long before east downtown’s so-called “Warehouse District” was trendy.” – Houston Press

Mell Hell and $50 Goat (Houston, TX)
https://www.facebook.com/fiftydollargoat/

Zipperneck meets Texas Mod Crushers and has a baby goat.

Biscuit Bombs (Houston, TX)
https://www.reverbnation.com/thebiscuitbombstexasbiscuitbombs

The Texas Biscuit Bombs / The Biscuit Bombs were formed from the Slurpees from Houston, TX, who could no longer use the name, due to copyright issues. The band was itself a group, but often added Biscuit as guest singer, which led to a full-time pursuit. The band started gigging in 2001 and played frequently in Houston, Austin, Dallas, New Orleans, and even a British tour set up by Welly of Artcore zine and the band Four Letter Word. In 2005, after a series of shows in Texas, Biscuit died, quite suddenly. In 2010, Modern City Records in Lyon, France (http://www.moderncityrecords.com/) released the demos from Biscuit Bombs, two superb live shows from Rudyards Pub in Houston, TX, from 2005, and demos from Biscuit late-1980's venture Cargo Cult. A very rare 45 was also issued in Wales, UK containing selected tracks from Cargo Cult, Biscuit Bombs, and Big Boys, since deleted. The band's version of "Frat Cars" (The Big Boys) also appeared on a free CD insert for the zine Magyar Taraj from Hungary, edited by Balazs Sarkadi of the long-running band Bankrupt.

Hooligan 45 (Houston, TX)
https://www.facebook.com/TXhooligan45/

Oi from Houston Texas. Loud and in your face!

Brewtality, Inc. (Houston, TX)
https://www.facebook.com/BrewtalityInc/

Established in 1999, Brewtality Incorporated plays the kind of working class, beer guzzling, punk rock that has earned the band opening slots for the likes of U.S. Bombs, The Cromags, Citizen Fish, The Queers, and M.O.D. When you see Brewtality Inc. live, expect a raw, energetic, non-stop Ramones-style set with beers held high overhead. The guitars are loud yet distinctive, and the bass lines throw up all over you as the drums pound away at you like a whiskey hangover. If you're on the wagon, Brewtality Inc. may just knock you off and run you over.

Hardsell Streetpunk (Austin, TX)
https://www.facebook.com/hardsell.punk/

Hardsell founded in the Netherlands in 1995, now in Austin TX. A powerful blend of Oi!, HC and streetpunk.

GONE ROGUE (Houston, TX)
https://www.facebook.com/goneroguehtx/

Formed in January 2019, the band was formed from the ashes of now-defunct previous bands that all called Houston, Texas home. The group’s singer and principal songwriter, Nikki Przybyla (Roots of Exile, No Resistance, Thug Boots), and drummer and former bandmate, David Klotz (Thug Boots, Loose Nukes, Landfill) teamed up to create their next musical venture – GONE ROGUE. The two partnered up with lead guitarist, songwriter and riff contributor, Andy VonKanel (The Noisepickers, Dirk Strangely & The Hatchetmen) and bass player and positive-attitude-haver, Dave Lopez (Skumbags, Broke Off!) to complete the lineup.
From The Clash to Joan Jett and The Blackhearts to Blitz and the Ramones, their sound is rooted in timeless punk classics with a firm grasp on the future of rock n roll. Some say punk or rock n roll is dead, but if that’s true, then Gone Rogue is raising the dead for an end-times apocalypse you’ll wanna show up early for – NO PUNK TIME!

For fans of: The Clash, Joan Jett, The Pretenders, Blitz, Rose Tattoo, The Business, Ramones, Cocksparrer, AC/DC, Thin Lizzy, The Kinks, Vice Squad and Blondie

Something you like writing on or in. If you have any stories that you were thinking about submitting, you can bring those too!

GRIVO (Austin, TX)
https://www.facebook.com/grivoband/

Emerging like an ornate relic of disenchanted youth, Austin-based power trio Grivo unleashes their ominously trudging sound with the debut full length Elude out November 16, 2018. Combining slow, methodical hooks and warm tube amplifiers, Grivo’s massive tones artfully re-establish the link between heavy guitars and downtempo pop to yield a potently encompassing experience. Utilizing effects as an active compositional element, Elude’s infectious riffs are brilliantly crafted and paced to allow the saturated guitars and bruising low-end to fully bloom. Within the tidal sound waves and bleak timbre, Grivo forges a distinctive personal connection that challenges the modern definitions of doom metal and shoegaze.

Poizon (Houston, TX)
https://twistworthyrecords.bandcamp.com/album/poizon-church-is-poizon

Comprised of Shawn Adolph (THE FATAL FLYING GUILLOTEENS, WEIRD PARTY), Kyle Gionis (SUGAR SHACK, WEIRD PARTY, WELFARE MOTHERS), Josh "Wolf" (SECRET PROSTITUTES, SNOOTY GARBAGEMEN, THE ENERGY, CRIME WAVE), and Halston Luna, POIZON is subtly punk-as-fuck in a way that many bands can't grasp.

"Whatever Houston's POIZON thinks of religion, their debut full length, Church Is Poizon, should become your new doctrine. Full of garage-fueled punk that's close to Australia's The Victims mixed with Zero Boys, the entire release is an in-your-face reminder that punk rock doesn't have to fit the mold you're used to." - Free Press Houston

“Cop Warmth is one of those bands that has a distinct live and on-record experience. Their live shows are ridiculously sloppy affairs, where descriptions that would encompass ‘masterful and crystal clear live sound’ would occur just as infrequently as ‘wore matching uniforms’ or ‘kept pants on for entirety of performance.’” -the Skyline Network

Blushing (Austin, TX)
https://www.blushingmusic.com/

Comprised of two husband and wife teams, Blushing is an Austin TX based dream pop / shoegaze quartet that originated in the summer of 2015 after Michelle Soto (guitar, vocals) shared her songs with long-time friend and classically trained vocalist Christina Carmona (vocals, bass). Picking up the bass, Carmona helped to fully flesh out tracks and the two incorporated their spouses Jake Soto (drums) and Noe Carmona (guitar). Their debut EP "Tether" was self-released in 2017, followed by their EP "Weak" on Austin Town Hall Records in January of 2018. Gaining infectious momentum, Blushing have since been asked to play official SXSW showcases in 2018 and 2019, Athens PopFest and have shared stages with the likes of La Luz, Snail Mail, Sunflower Bean, BRONCHO and many more.

They released the single "The Truth" (b/w “Sunshine”) on October 26th both digitally and on 7" pink vinyl via The Nothing Song Records. Recorded, mixed and produced by Elliott Frazier of Ringo Deathstarr both "The Truth" and "Sunshine" showcase a growth in the band's expansive, cascading sound laden with ethereal vocals and fervent guitar, simultaneously capable of reining in with emotional and melodic space. Their single comes ahead of their debut full length slated to be released in early 2019.

Velveteen Echo (Houston, TX)
http://www.velveteenecho.com

Velveteen Echo draws equally from indie rock and bedroom pop to create a sound that is reminiscent of bands like The Sundays and The Cranberries.

El Lago (Galveston, TX)
https://www.ellagoband.com

"Lauren Eddy’s vocals come in like a secretive whisper; coupled with the guitars, the sound hooks you in right away." - Houston Press

"She wraps her voice around the delectable melody and carries it into the next moment.... I completely got lost upon my first few listens." - Austin Town Hall

Galveston, Texas might be known as a coastal destination for Texas vacationers, but for the pedal soaked music of EL LAGO, Galveston is home. Mixing sounds that remind you of what would happen if Cocteau Twins and Ringo Deathstarr covered the music of Spiritualized, the band has been known to cause a stir with their dreamlike performances.

The four piece has always crafted plenty of soundscapes to complement the vocals of lead singer and guitarist Lauren Eddy, and their recent recordings with Austin Sepulvado (Buxton, Dollie Barnes, Ancient Cat Society) and Grammy winning engineer Steve Christensen (Robert Ellis, Khruangbin, Destiny's Child, Steve Earle) seem to capture the magic that the band crafts together.

<![CDATA[Endhipendit Presents: Eagle Claw "Vallis" Album Release with Warlung, Kill the Lizard, Alone On The Moon]]> https://rudyardspub.tunestub.com/show.cfm?id=303895&cart&buy

Eagle Claw (Austin, TX)
https://www.facebook.com/eagleclawhurts/

Austin TX's instruMETAL outfit EAGLE CLAW plays heavy, loud music. From the very beginning, vocals were never in the plan for this creatively destructive four piece. Taking up where other instrumental bands leave off, Eagle Claw carved out their own niche within the instrumental genre. Dynamic and engaging, but ultimately all things metal.

Formed in the fall of 2007, the band started gaining momentum when their demo, 'Bastard Usurper' first infiltrated Austin's music scene. That was then followed up by their first official release entitled, "Poacher." Recorded by Brain Richie (bassist, The Sword), if features 9 blistering tracks filled with tasteful riffs, clever time changes and fist pumping beats that set the tone for what Eagle Claw have become known for.

In 2012, the band released their much anticipated sophomore album, "Timing of the Void." Featuring 8 monolithic tracks, the record's title and overarching theme is based on "The Book of Five Rings', a test on Kenjutsu and the martial arts, written by Japanese swordsman Miyomato Musashi, circa 1645. In recent news items published on Eagle Claw, the Austin Chronicle wrote, "Like Musashi, the local quartet's instrumentals are dually Zen and violent, and their timing and attack is martial. Not just a titular reference, the swordsman's lessons are the basis for the music on Timing of the Void."

Eagle Claw's third full length album, entitled 'Valis' is set to be released in the Fall of 2019, with a U.S. Tour to follow.

Comprised of the dualistic soundscapes of guitarists, Matt Rade and Michael Gonzalez, the searing low-end fuzz of bassist Alec Padron, and the relentless poudning of Bart Butler's drumming, the band is best known for their high energy live performances.

Warlung (Houston, TX)
https://www.facebook.com/WARLUNGBAND/

Founded in 2016, former members of Houston's The Dead Revolt and Rivers joined forces to push the limits of song writing and creativity. Inspired by the sounds of old, WARLUNG has taken what the 70's era of rock and psychedelia gave us and turned it into a hi-powered, white knuckled ride, down the rock n' roll highway. The debut album is entitled, "Sleepwalker"

Alone On The Moon (Houston, TX)
http://aloneonthemoonband.com/

Alone on the Moon is a video-obsessed, instrumental post-rock/stoner/post-metal band from Houston, Texas. The group formed in 2012 as a collaboration between Joe Lovchik (guitar) and Seth Johnson (bass). Joe and Seth met through mutual friends and found they had the same vision for a heavy, instrumental sound. Nathan Smith (drums) was quickly recruited to fill out the jam sessions, and the trio began writing. Soon, the band made a unique impression in their hometown with their epic songcraft and psychedelic projections. Guitarist Ahmad Saad joined Alone on the Moon in 2015, adding a rich, new layer to the group’s heady outpourings of distortion.

The band recorded its first EP in 2015 and quickly began producing pupil-dilating live spectacles across Southeast Texas incorporating video projections, lighting arrays, and Class 2 lasers. Alone on the Moon’s vivid debut album, Spectra, was release in August of 2018 and is available on all digital download and streaming platforms.

Pong (Austin, TX)
https://www.facebook.com/Pong-470512675233/

Mention the word “pong” in Austin, and odds are responses will range more to the dance spectrum than the early video-game world. Emerging from the ashes of Ed Hall in the late Nineties, guitarist Gary Chester, drummer Lyman Hardy, and bassist Larry Strub formed Pong with guitarist Jason Craig and keyboardist Shane Shelton. Together they became a mighty “retro-futuristic” fusion of melody, beat, lights, and vocal effects. Talk boxes and rows of keyboards replace Ed Hall’s post-punk guitar pulls, and dance floors began to give under the weight of ass-shaking punk rockers. It’s that mix of punk, post-punk, electronics, hip-hop, and humor that makes Pong so much fun. 2001 found Pong finally releasing debut Killer Lifestyle, chock-full of local shout-outs, creepy synth beats, and the “Blues Underground.” 2005’sBubble City gathered hits like “Finally, Some Good Music” and “Interpol” into a dance party on disc. – Darcie Stevens, Austin Chronicle

Fever Beam (Saint Petersburg, FL)
https://www.facebook.com/feverbeam/

Fever Beam formed in the summer heat of St. Petersburg, Florida, where they quickly became known for their charismatic and high energy live show. Featuring Kasey’s twangy guitar and powerhouse singing matched by Dane and Sam’s infectious rhythms and vocal harmonies, Fever Beam has developed a sound affectionately referred to as “cowpunk”. The band has opened for acts like Gary Clark, Jr., Dex Romweber, Sarah Shook & the Disarmers, Thelma and the Sleaze, Thunderpussy, and more, leading the Tampa Bay Times and Creative Loafing to consistently cite Fever Beam as one of the best new bands to come out of Tampa Bay.

Fever Beam is currently in production on their debut EP, recorded by Simon Palombi (The Woolly Bushmen), and will be touring across North America in 2019.

Birthday Club - (Houston, TX)
https://birthdayclub.bandcamp.com

Birthday Club is the music of Houston, TX based musician, songwriter & producer, Stephen Wells. Summoning an off-kilter incarnation of sun-drenched bedroom pop, Birthday Club swirls together dark and jangly guitars with a shimmering backdrop of brooding synthesizers. Birthday Club has produced several original scoring compositions for NPR radio and has been featured at festivals around the U.S. like SXSW Official, CMJ, Savannah Stopover and In Bloom Festival alongside bands like Beck, Grizzly Bear and Explosions in the Sky

Drawing upon swatches of psychedelia and New Wave, Houston's Birthday Club crafts eclectic pop tunes awash in faint allusions to L.A.'s mid-Eighties Paisley Underground. Guitarist/vocalist Stephen Wells cuts a commanding center stage persona on souped-up summer blasts like "Having Too Much Fun" from last year's Lighten Up EP - Austin Chronicle "Must See Pop Bands of SXSW

The synth lines on Birthday Club’s new single “Having Too Much Fun” sound like they were lifted straight from an “all killer” mixtape of only The Cure’s most body-moving hits. Meanwhile, the guitar plays along with a riff that could have slotted in nicely in any number of new wave comps. But rather than jump on the track with a morose, sad-boy delivery a la Robert Smith, this Houston band sets themselves apart with an uplifting, echo-y vocal worthy of the song’s title ... If the band can wrangle together a few more tracks that hit with this level of intensity, then their debut EP Lighten Up will be a force to be reckoned with - Consequence of Sound

India Tigers in Texas (Galveston, TX)
https://www.indiatigersintexas.com

A mixture of lysergic awareness and impending destruction flavors the music of India Tigers in Texas. The sounds of warped, fuzzed out guitar leads brings to mind cascading neon waves on a desolate shore post-apocalypse, and all that survived the torrent was a single group of psychedelic vagabonds that assembled to become the guiding beacon of a new revolution.

The group borrows from influence of the bygone psych rock of the ‘60s, in the vein of Jefferson Airplane and the 13th Floor Elevators, and their shows often divulge into a swirling mass of frantic movements as the audience is helpless but to be overcome by the maddening chaos of the live set. In the “right mindset” India Tigers in Texas can lead the listener on a journey, easily envisioning kaleidoscopic moments of intense euphoric bliss and likely some sort of deep state of epiphany.

Simon Joyner (Jagjaguwar, Woodsist)
https://simonjoyner.bandcamp.com

In the early 1990s, Beck listed Omaha, Neb., songwriter Simon Joyner in a personal top-10 list for Rolling Stone magazine. Famed British DJ John Peel, known for making careers for playing just one of a band's songs, played Joyner's fourth album in its entirety.

"Simon was among those early acts that influenced so many other people to see that someone from Omaha could record their own music, could do something that was uniquely in their own voice, that sounded like nothing else that was going on, could make some money off of it and could get some attention and national exposure," McMahan says.

One of those Omaha musicians influenced by Simon Joyner is Conor Oberst, the man behind the band Bright Eyes.

While some of the musicians he's influenced have gone on to make bigger names for themselves, Joyner says he's content with a family, a day job and the chance to let real life shape his storytelling.

The Ex-Optimists (College Station, TX)
https://www.facebook.com/theexoptimists/

Pop songs played with guitars plugged into amps turned up way too loud to get over a drummer who hits them too hard, hollered to be heard.

A Sundae Drive (Houston, TX)
https://asundaedrive.bandcamp.com/

ASD is kinda punk, shoegaze, new wave, dreampop & indie rock. Since '05, ASD's been making melodies & harmonies play w/ noise & effects. Songs of love & loss, childhood mishaps, politics & justice, & some good old-fashioned angst are the themes revisited by these 4 out of Houston. We are Zeek (guitar & vocals), Sergio (guitar & vocals), Mike (drums) and Jennifer (bass, keyboards, & vocals).

Only Beast (Houston, TX)
https://onlybeast.bandcamp.com/

"Only Beast will be getting things started, which is like saying a freight train will be on stage. I don’t think I’ve seen anything like this three piece in my life.” - David Garrick, Free Press Houston

"Houston’s Only Beast are a fascinating band, combining elements of post-punk, progressive rock, and goth rock into a sound all their own, with vocalist Danielle Renee wailing atop the mélange like a 21st century Siouxsie Sioux." - Kelly Minnis, 979 Represent

Satanic Overlords of Rock n Roll (Houston, TX)

Evil Rock N Roll in the vein of the Dwarves, Black Sabbath, Turbonegro and all of the other Devil loving rock bands you seem to enjoy!

The Schizophonics (San Diego, CA)
https://schizophonics.com/

The Schizophonics are, in one word, EXPLOSIVE. Their frenzied live performances tap into the same unstoppable combination of rock ‘n’ roll energy and showmanship that fueled the MC5 in the heyday of the Grande Ballroom. When they hit the stage, they grab your attention and don’t let go. They’ve built up a formidable reputation in their home base of San Diego and a fervent following among locals. “One of my favorite live bands ever!” proclaims Tim Mays, who has run the Casbah for over 25 years and seen literally thousands of live bands come through his doors in that time. “The Schizophonics bring the goods every time they play,” he enthuses. “Pat Beers is like a cross between Jimi Hendrix and James Brown – yelping, wailing, shralping the guitar with his left hand while gyrating all over the place; Kyle joins in the mayhem on bass and Lety keeps it real behind the kit.”

But the Schizophonics are more than just an outstanding live act, they’re also committed to writing great, memorable songs, a skill singer/guitarist Pat Beers has continued to hone, channeling such influences as Jimi Hendrix Experience, the Sonics, the Stooges, the MC5, James Brown, and Little Richard.

Pat and drummer Lety Beers first met in Casa Grande, Arizona, before pulling up stakes and moving to San Diego in 2008. They formed the Schizophonics the following year, and have worked tirelessly since then, playing literally hundreds of live shows up and down the West Coast, and further afield. A 2013 tour of Spain with El Vez – who had recruited them as his backing group – resulted in the group’s first record release, a three-song 7” EP on the Munster label. In December 2014 they took their act to an arena-sized venue for 91X’s Wrex the Halls concert, on a bill that also included Billy Idol, Spoon, Cage the Elephant, and Interpol. Afterwards 91X program director Mike Halloran declared them, “The most exciting band I have seen in many, many years. They must be seen to be believed.”

In July 2015 the Schizophonics’ second single, “Put Your Weight On It” b/w “Red Planet,” was released on the Ugly Things label. This summer they started work on their debut album at Earthling Studios with producer Mike Kamoo. Their future plans also include a European tour in September and October, this time taking in Spain, Italy, France and England. - Mike Stax, Ugly Things Magazine

Poizon (Houston, TX)
http://records.twistworthy.com/bands/poizon

Comprised of Shawn Adolph (THE FATAL FLYING GUILLOTEENS, WEIRD PARTY), Kyle Gionis (SUGAR SHACK, WEIRD PARTY, WELFARE MOTHERS), Josh "Wolf" (SECRET PROSTITUTES, SNOOTY GARBAGEMEN, THE ENERGY, CRIME WAVE), and Halston Luna, POIZON is subtly punk and punk as fuck at the same time, unpretentious while maintaining an unheralded ability to capture the listeners attention by just, you know, doing what they're doing.

<![CDATA[Pegstar Presents: Zig Zags, R.I.P., Night Cobra (all ages)]]> https://rudyardspub.tunestub.com/show.cfm?id=303897&cart&buy

Zig Zags (Los Angeles, CA)
https://www.facebook.com/zigzagsmusic/

Zig Zags started in a room lit by a single green light, which changed them from humans to Zig Zags in the summer of 2009. Within the next five years, they’d record a song with Iggy Pop and an album with Ty Segall and go from playing house parties for pizza to staring off the stage at the Fillmore West. But back then that was still in the future. Before them had come giants—bands like Kiss and Sabbath whose names were carved into desks in detention for decades. Before them had come mutants, heavy metal and punk bands like the Dictators and Pentagram that spun into the void of history after failed orbital rendezvous with the fame they’d deserved. And before them had come freaks, one-known-copy private press insanities like J.T. IV, White Boy and the Average Rat Band, the bands that happened when someone with a guitar thought FUCK IT loud enough for the tape to pick up. Those were visionaries, each of them, even if most of them paid—or never got paid—for it. And Zig Zags had a vision, too. It was a dark and weird one, the kind of thing you see flickering on the monitor when your stolen spaceship wakes you up from cryosleep, or the kind of thing that flashes across the inside of your forehead when you wake up hungover from sleeping in your van. Theirs was the nightmare of the insane and the all-too-normal, the Bermuda Triangle between sci-fi and lo-fi and no-budget, the Twilight Zone twist ending where it turns out everyone ELSE was an alien the whole time. When Cliff Burton wore that Misfits shirt—Zig Zags. When the Emergency Broadcast System interrupts that John Carpenter movie—Zig Zags. When a soggy pile of Thrasher mags and Jack Kirby comics spill out of a dumpster behind the Sunday School—Zig Zags. When the Ramones were scared of the basement and the Angry Samoans couldn’t find the right side of their mind—Zig Zags. When a kid breaks his elbow copying a WWF heel’s piledriver and starts laughing instead of crying—Zig Zags. And when the electricity goes off forever and torchlight reflects off chrome—Zig Zags. All of this and more becomes real on the Zig Zags’ self-titled debut LP, recorded and produced by Ty Segall for In The Red. In 12 songs, they chainsaw through weirdo film and caveman rock and space noise and make smart sound so dumb it turns inside-out and becomes brilliant. Their very first 7” had a song scalled “Scavenger” cuz that’s what Zig Zags do—dig through garbage to find genius. In 2014, it turns out they did make their ripping record. But it’s up to you to figure out the twist ending.

Koffin Kats (Detroit, MI)
https://www.koffinkatsrock.com

It’s been over 16 years since Vic, Tommy, & E-Ball started The Koffin Kats in their parent’s basements and played for beer in local Detroit bars. A psychobilly/punk band with influences ranging from The Damned to The Stray Cats, The Koffin Kats have covered a lot of ground. Nine albums later, a few member changes, and over 2,500 live shows from international tours… the founding lineup returned in 2016.

Six years after his departure, Tommy Koffin returned to playing guitar with The Koffin Kats. With Vic Victor on lead vocals and upright bass, and E Ball Walls on drums. In 2017, the trio released their latest album titled “Party Time In The End Times.”

2019 is a year of new music and international touring. KK will be releasing a new song each month while touring throughout North America and Europe.
