Josh Rennie-Hynes is making waves as one of Australia’s finest up and coming Americana/folk singer-songwriters. Rennie-Hynes caught the attention of renowned ARIA award winning Australian artist and producer, Shane Nicholson in early 2013. The two collaborated in late 2013 on Rennie-Hynes’ debut album, ‘February’.
Rennie-Hynes released ‘February’ on 04 July 2014, through MGM distribution. February marks Rennie-Hynes’ maturation from aspiring to emergent as an artist and songwriter. Since the release of February, Rennie-Hynes has consistently toured across regional and urban Australia and New Zealand, playing a variety of festival and venue stages as a special guest, co-headline and headline act. Rennie-Hynes has seen his reputation as a profound performer continue to grow alongside his fan base and respect from peers.
Early 2015 has been a busy time, with Rennie-Hynes completing a two month Australian house concert tour with Caitlin Harnett. The pair then joined Liam Gerner for an Australian tri-headline tour throughout March. In June, Rennie-Hynes heads back to New Zealand for a month long headline tour.
Throughout 2015, Rennie-Hynes continues writing and preparing for his sophomore album and trip to the USA in September. This will assist him to extend his writing and collaborations whilst always aiming to improve as a songwriter, performer and artist.
Rennie-Hynes is a captivating festival performer. He has performed at the Woodford Folk Festival, Caloundra Music Festival, Apollo Bay Music Festival, Wandi Swagger Festival, Urban country festival and the Tamworth Country Music Festival since 2013.
Rennie-Hynes has received high-rotation radio play on ABC Local, Triple J and community radio stations across Australia.
