From the age of 12 Molly Reeves has been Strongly rooted in traditional hot jazz, appearing in the west coast jazz circuit from a very young age. Surviving as a full time musician sense leaving the nest she has successfully produced a gypsy jazz ensemble that is now a touring band called the RedSkunks and released a solo album in 2012 featuring the international banjo pickin’ star Ross Nickerson. Molly is a natural entertainer with her spunky antics, sultry voice, hot guitar playing and crazy personality.

Pamela Sheffler is a classically trained violinist who began her musicstudies 11 years ago at the age of 8. She caught the eye of the Red Skunk Jipzee Swing Band while performing in a fundraiser in her stringquintet. During an interview she expressed her desire to “run away witha gypsy caravan” and shortly thereafter joined the band. With the sweet sounds of her violin, Pamela has added a new dimension to theDjango-style band. A sophmore at Cal Poly, SLO, she is currently studying violin with Paul Severtson, concertmaster of the SLOSymphony. With Paul’s expertise, Pamela is learning jazz improvisation and the secrets of soloing Grappelli style. She is alsoa member of the SLO Symphony and concertmaster of the Cal PolySymphony. When she is not practicing the violin, Pamela enjoys theclassic films of her favorite actor, Oskar Werner and listening to herfavorite radio station, Classical KUSC.

Sam Boorman received his first guitar at age 11. In the last 7 years, he has played the part of the die-hard rock and roller, a hot swing guitarist, and most everything in between. Sam haspicked up licks from the likes of Cap’n Jim Murphy, Guy Budd,and Eddie Erickson. Just out of high school, it is impressive what a range of music Sam has already discovered. From his vibrato driven whistle solos, to his masterful control of the guitar, he is a captivating showman, and a cornerstone of the Red Skunk sound.

Justin Au, an alumnus of the Sacramento TraditionalJazz Society’s jazz education programs, has beenplaying the traditional jazz of New Orleans nearly allhis life, ever since his Uncle, trombonist Howard Miyata turned him on to the music at an early age. In highschool he garnered Best Trumpet awards at various music festivals, and was awarded an Honorable Mention at the prestigious Essentially Ellington Big-Band competition at Lincoln Center, NY. He has toured Japan, Brazil, and China with various jazz ensembles and the Sacramento Youth Symphony’s Premier Orchestra.On the festival circuit, Justin has filled in on trumpet for many well-known groups such as the Creole Syncopators, Polly’s Hot Paupers, Cell Block 7, The TJYBF Clinicians, The Ron Cunha Big Band, and more. He has performed alongside such jazz greats as Andy Martin, Taylor Eigsti, Red Holloway,Don Byron, Jim Cullum, Duke Heitger, Bob Draga, Tommy Saunders, Bill Allred, Jon Cocuzzi, Eddie Erickson and many more.

Jamie Mather is steeped in the traditions of true Americanmusic. Jamie is well-versed in the genres of rock-a-billy,country, and string music and has played upright bass in bands of those genres. Jamie used his current foray into the vast world of “Trad” and gypsy jazz as a learningexperience and today plays better than ever! This is not to say he lost his roots, however. Jamie brings a unique perspective to the Red Skunk Jipzee Band by combininghis Chuck Berry, Hank Williams past with the phenomenaljazz musicianship of his peers. Extensively implementingin the pocket, walking bass lines with flashy slap technique.Jamie is an excited and invaluable new member of the Red Skunk Jipzee Swing Band!
