Caroline Reese is a singer-songwriter born and raised in Reading, Pennsylvania. She has released two country-folk solo albums, "Indian River" (2010) and "Slow Code" (2013), both of which are widely available online and on iTunes (and under the "merch" tab on this website). As a solo artist she has performed in venues as varied as classrooms and cattle drives, delighting audiences with her raw, unpretentious performances, beautiful vocals, and original songs blending folk tradition with innovative lyrics and arrangements. Reese also fronts Caroline Reese and the Drifting Fifth, an Americana / alt-folk band, based outside of Philadelphia. The Drifting Fifth is a trio made up of Caroline on acoustic guitar and vocals, Mark Watter on electric guitar and vocals, and Alice Terrett on bass, and the group blends Reese's folk/country background with Watter's alt-rock electric guitar to create sound that's been lighting up bars, festivals, and audiences since they formed in May of 2013. The band ended 2013 with performances at venues like the North Star Bar in Philadelphia, Building 24 in Reading, PA, Melodies Café in Ardmore, PA, and Gene Shay's famous Folk Show on WXPN, and are looking ahead to recording their first EP and second tour in early 2014.
