Born October 14th, 1988, on the rocky shores of New Hampshire, John grew up in a small New England town on the edge of his own 100 acre wood. Raised in a musical household, John's grandmother was a talented pianist, his mother a guitarist and singer, his father collected records, before cassettes and CD's, and his older sister frequently starred in small town musicals. Listening to and loving music since he had ears, He wore out his first cassette tape at 5 years old. "I had this awesome old tape that had all these major artists on it singing kids songs. Artists like Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, Brian Wilson and Bruce Springsteen singing songs like ‘Mary Had a little Lamb’ it was crazy and I love it." After learning piano he went on to learn trumpet, guitar and harmonica, all the while singing in school choruses and church choirs. "I never cared too much for school or church but I couldn't get enough of music." His high school band broke up shortly after graduating so that members could attend different schools. John choosing the University of New Hampshire, eventually graduating with a business degree in international business and economics. During those years John spent 6 months abroad in South East Asia. It was there that he started playing out in front of people again and beginning to developing the sound and style that can be heard on the 'John That' EP and on the never released 'Prettiest Girls' LP. After working a corporate 9 to 5 John quit less than a year in, to relocate and pursue music full time. His new songs echo back to his younger style, reflecting his reggae, acoustic pop, indie rock and hip hop influences. Or 'Reggae Indie Pop Hip Hop' as he likes to call it.
