Sound of the City: A Band and A Business The Band? The acclaimed Sound of the City (SOTC) is a Washington D.C.-based soul/funk/hip hop/soul that has accompanied internationally-recognized recording artists on stage such as Jill Scott, Angie Stone, Chrisette Michele, Eric Roberson, and Leela James to name a few. Band members have played with the likes of megastars like Snoop Dogg and Mariah Carey and have appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Ellen Degeneres Show, Live with Jimmy Kimmel, and BET. Known locally as music improvisation virtuosos, SOTC is also a Wammie-nominated band (Washington Area Music Association) that distinctively and skillfully fuses soul, R&B, hip hop, and funk music while often uniquely fusing the various genres for contemporary audiences. The Business SOTC’s affiliated music production arm, Sound of the City Music Group Inc, houses multi-talented musicians, producers, singers, and songwriters. Production credit can be found on the Grammy-nominated R&B album The Love & War MasterPeace (2010) by Raheem DeVaughn, in which SOTC produced the hit "Super Hero.”
