Born and raised in Des Moines, IO, Brandon Alan was simultaneously introduced to music and his love of guitar artistry when his father gave him a '74 Les Paul. His family's eclectic music collection introduced the young musician to his chief influences (Mark Knopfler, Eric Clapton, Stephen Stills, Jimi Hendrix, Chet Atkins, Vince Gill and Brad Paisley, amongst others), but Brandon's most enduring inspirational memory is watching Joe Walsh perform a solo with the Eagles on VH1.

After an audition with the Berklee School of Music in Boston, Brandon was told his skills and talent exceeded those of a typical student and was advised to begin his professional career as soon as possible. He relocated to Austin, TX, and started gigging four nights a week at many of the city's mainstays (such as The Saxon Pub and Threadgill's), garnering a large fan base and clearing the way for him to record his first full-length albums.

Brandon launched his recording career with Life Eclipse (2007), produced by Chris Maresh (musician for Eric Johnson), and followed this success with his second album, Token (2008), produced by Michael Ramos (of The BoDeans, John Mellencamp and Los Lonely Boys).

“The producers I worked with on my first two albums liked my sound,” BA says, “Acoustic was the right niche for me...vocally, I’ve gotten a lot stronger over the past few years. All along, I wanted to transcend being pigeonholed as yet another acoustic based singer. I like to think of myself as a guitar player first."

After the success of Token, Brandon realized he had to make a decision – stay in Austin or take his career to the next level. “It’s easy to get comfortable in Austin, but you can get to a certain plateau and stay there,” he says. “I felt that moving to a major music market like Nashville would be a great step forward, not only because of the many opportunities to perform in the city and surrounding area, but because it’s centrally located and a great base to tour from."

The release of his latest album, Late Night (2012), a collection of songs for electric guitar, has brought the charismatic performer another chance to do what he loves most – tour. Brandon is currently on the road for a series of national performances promoting his full collection of music.

“Onstage. That’s really where the excitement happens,” Brandon says with a smile. “I love feeling the energy from the crowd and trying new things every night. I have done tons of acoustic gigs, and don’t mind mixing it up, but I have the most fun now playing live with my band. I can pull out my electric and really let loose.”
